DAI – Dancing Artificial Intelligence –

DAI began its life at the Museum Tinguely in Basel, Switzerland as a part of the performanceprocess exhibition. We switched it on with a fresh and empty brain and some gentle encouragements to explore movements. Jonathan O’Hear gave an introductory speech to the attending audience and…for what seemed like an eternity nothing happened. After a minute or so a wheel started to turn and DAI went on to complete its first two performances. Three and a half months later DAI had accomplished over 500 performances and learned a lot about its physicality and interactions with its environment. But to witness that first wheel turning was something special for all those present on that day.
